A Mama Off In Lala Land: Balancing Motherhood, Ice Cream Dreams, and Everyday Magic

Hey there! You might be wondering, "What kind of crazy person starts a blog while managing a brick and mortar business?" Well, let me introduce myself and tell you all about the adventure that is my life.

My name is not actually Lala; it's Lauren!

So why Lala? I'll start with my most boring reason first – my maiden name is Landstoffer, naturally shortened to La La for things like school email addresses and pickup items. My second reason is that my sweet nephews call me Auntie Lala. While this alone is the only reason I need to go by Lala, I'll give you one more. I'm always off in Lala Land, dreaming big and falling down rabbit holes.

After college, I opened Just Cream Ice Cream Boutique in 2017, a world of ice cream flavors and adventure. Then, in 2021, I became a mom and truly tumbled down the rabbit hole.

Being a mom is the craziest, most transformative thing I've ever done. Being a parent is hard. It's not just about having a tiny human depending on you that's hard; it's the whole world and the sudden realization of everything terrible that can happen. It's this fearful mindset that sent me down endless rabbit holes and I just couldn't live like that anymore. I found my way out, just like Taylor Swift says, "I pushed from the precipice, climbed right back up the cliff, long story short, I survived."

Before I dive into my blogging journey, I have to give a fair warning: they say that when you hit rock bottom, you become a yoga teacher. Well, starting a blog might be another one of those "rock bottom" moments. Although, there was a time when I did consider becoming a yoga teacher.

I met my husband, Jacob, at Purdue University, and we started dating in 2012. When we got engaged in 2019, we never expected to be navigating a wedding during a pandemic. We also never expected to become a party of three so quickly. In 2021, we welcomed our one and only little buddy, Cameron. I quickly learned how truly unprepared I was for how it would turn my world upside down in the most beautiful way.

So, why am I starting this blog? Well, it's a wild adventure born out of my journey through motherhood. I went from being a true Ice Queen in my business to feeling like I'd stepped onto the Island of Misfit Toys. Severe anxiety came knocking, and I decided it was time to find an outlet. This blog is my way of saying, "Hey, mamas, we've got this!"

I want to connect with all the moms out there who, like me, sometimes feel like they're lost in Wonderland, complete with twists and turns. I'm here to show you that you can be a mom, run your business, and add magic along the way. Together we can discover the magic in our everyday lives.
